Aim |
To enable staff to identify and practice key interviewing skills. |
Objectives |
Participants will be encouraged to work individually and in groups to identify the 'ideal candidate'. Participants will be asked to consider equal opportunities and admissions policies in relation to interviews. They will consider key interviewing skills and relate these to a short video on which they will be asked to provide feedback. All participants will be asked to take part in a role play exercise. |
Evaluation |
Each participant will be expected to contribute to individual and group exercises and discussions and to complete a personal action plan identifying their own areas of concern and plan for improvement for their use after the session. |
Course Content |
Participants will be asked to work in pairs to identify the sort of candidate they are looking for. They will then be asked to consider equal opportunities and admissions policies by considering what information won't help in selecting the ideal candidate. Key interviewing skills will be explored - to include
A short video will be shown and discussed. A role-play will be run with participants asked to play the part of the interview panel members and the prospective candidates. The feedback from this will be discussed with the group and the learning points tied in from the afternoon. Summary, review and finalising personal action plans. |
